Title:  Z 1151 light weight diesel locomotive
Description:  This locomotive is 1 of 3 built for the Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) in 1953 by Robert Stephenson and Hawthorn's (Drewry Car Co) it is built for 3'6" (1067mm) gauge, length 18'10" (5.75m) weight 15.13 tonnes (14.89 long tons, 16.68 short tons.) It's powered with a Gardner 8LW engine with air locomotive brakes and train vacuum brakes Max speed of 17mph or 28km/h.

Title:  NSU 55 Engine Room
Description:  This is the first photo when walking from the drivers cab into the engine room. Forgive me if you know the locomotives better than me for misnaming the components of this old beast. To the left is Im guessing the electrical compartment and straight in front is the main generator.

NSU 55 Engine Room Rear Section
Title:  NSU 55 Engine Room Rear Section
Description:  In this picture, you can see the traction motor blower fans and associated ducting through the floor and to the left is the air compressor. There are 13 of the NSU class locomotives built by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company Ltd, Crompton Parkinson Ltd and Sulzer Brothers in England for the Trans Australian Railway from Port Augusta to Darwin via Marree. They have a 955hp Sulzer engine, A1A-A1A wheel arangement with a 10.5 ton axle loading. Tractive effort of at least 21,000lbs Ability to operate in extreme conditions, with temperatures in excess of 45C, poor quality water and dry & dusty air, heavily laden with sand. The greatest altitude was only 190 feet, temperatures and humidity varied but the Central section (Port Augusta - Alice Springs, 771 miles) endures long periods of 100F+ temperatures, with highs to 120F. Capacity to haul 202 tons up a 1 in 60 uncompensated grade with main line curves of 7 chains radius and sidings with 4 chains radius.

Title:  NSU 55 Engine Room
Description:  The rear most part of the locomotive, the door is to access trailing locomotives especially a second NSU if they were running back to back or a NT Class locomotive. On either side of the "walkway is the radiators to not only cool the radiator water/coolant, these locomotives had a radiator arrangement to cool engine oil.

Title:  NC1 diesel hydraulic locomotive
Description:  NC1 is 1 of 2 narrow gauge 3'6" (1067mm) locomotives built by Clyde Engineering in Granville NSW for the Lakewood Firewood Company in 1956 and later sold to the Commonwealth Railways in 1965. They are 25'2" (7.67m) long. Maximum speed 37mph or 60km/h, powered by a GM 6/110 2 stroke diesel engine coupled to an Allison CRT5630 hydraulic transmission. They could operate in multiple unit and had air locomotive brakes with vacuum train brakes.
