Description: |
The 900 Class were a locomotive class built by the South Australian Railways in 1951. These SAR designed PA1 clones have a similar carbody to the PA1 but that's pretty much where the simulatity ends. These locomotives have a English Electric 16SVT Mk I engine, EE 822 type generator and EE 4 type 523A air cooled traction motors. 10 were built with 3 surviving into preservation. They ran on South Australia's broad gauge network and led such trains as the Overland from Melbourne Vic. 900 is named Lady Norrie after Lieutenant-General Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, 1st Baron Norrie, the then Governor of South Australia. |

Electric Staff Machine |
Description: |
Now I have used these along with the staff and ticket "token" at work. This is an authority for single track working. When I used it, we had to talk to a train controller (dispatcher) to get authorisation to go from point a to point b. when you have authority from the train controller or the signal box in advance, you can get your staff out, All of the staffs are numbered with some having an annett key on the end to operate signalling equipment and or points (switches) for sidings aling the section of track. |
